On another note the heat shield is plastic isn't it? So how much of a barrier to heat is it really?

I have to many questions myself. I might just get the stillen so I won't have to know if I'm harming my performance or not.

Since you are in commiefrnia Stillen gen 3 are the only ones that have a CARB cert so the only option for long tubes.

If you're not going long tube just get high flow drop in filters and some post maf tubes. It's better than any short ram set up.
