Don’t know but seems to me that Toyota could’ve hit it out of the ballpark but all they did is made a better BRZ/86. Too little, too late IMHO.
Which is probably one of the reasons Nissan has not introduced a successor to the 370Z. They are kind of "damned if you do, damned if you don't". It still sells practically as well as a new one would (give or take the initial blip on release), without the risk of creating something that people will find polarizing, or hitting the market at exactly the wrong time after all the reinvestment for R&D and re-tooling.
