I maintain 5000 the sound leAves. Same when pulling to 6000. Noise while making it to 6000 but leaves as soon I match the throttle to maintain 6000. Could it be injectors? Almost sounds like when a spark plug is tested when you can see the spark jump. Just a random fast sparatic sound.
Are you still having the noises?

I have the same issue. Only when i hit the throttle hard the noise comes. Doesnt do it while parked and revving. Like you mentioned, if i accelerate smoothly there is no noise. Only when i jam the gas. It sounds like a combination of hissing/air leaking/rasp/metal in a can. It kind of sounds like a clogged cat but i have test pipes and a CBE.
