Recommendation - proactively come up with an action plan. "As you know, our key admin left several months ago, and we're missing documentation on how to handle some of these issues. To ensure this doesn't happen again in future, we're creating an internal documentation structure to capture these issues and the necessary solutions."
If I find that my minions are struggling and I have to get into the weeds to figure out solutions myself, I'm annoyed. That's not what I'm hired to do. But if I find one of those minions has identified this is a problem, and is taking steps to fix it for not just the present but for the future, I'm inclined to consider how to promote that person to chief minion. YMMV.
