A wider wheel will give you a larger, flatter contact patch. Essentially you use more of the tire. A little tension on the sidewalls will also provide better, sharper turn in and more precise steering response. If you are looking to run the normal 275 or 285 square sizes, a 10.5 will be perfect. I'd run 11" if i could.
