Gad, JC's post makes me want to get back to the component level repair I used to do. Only problem now is that the parts are so damn small that I need a magnifier or a scope to replace them. Most of the time a hot air pencil was enough to take them off and put new ones on.
Except, I don't think anyone wants to pay $$ for component level repair. It's all 'find the bad board, swap it and toss the bad one in the trash'....
