But for some $16k is gonna be a lot of extra car payment. And I can see them being sold for $50k out the door once the vette is out.

After the dust has kinda settled from the C8 reveal, it was just a timing thing. People scratching heads about the Supra while the C8 came up with some mind-blowing claims (claims, so far).
I mean people will forget that the C7 was some awesome **** when it launched and I'm sure there were digs at Porsche at the time. Sub 4 second 0-60 (which is still pretty fast today), the 7 speed, MRC, styling and major interior overhaul (albeit not class-leading at all). Z51 was like pads and tires away from a track day. There wasn't even a Supra to talk about.
But now there is a Supra to talk about, and there has been nothing but promise for it so far. Adam LZ already has his 550hp in what looked like a straightforward turbo + downpipe swap, and meth install.
I still want to hold my breath on possible higher trims. I currently don't like how there are cooler vacancies and vents "ready" to mod (even the intake vent is blocked off). The Lexus RCF and GSF come with better cooling equipment. Yes the MSRP on those is higher, but this is supposed to the flagship
sports car. So I imagine it's possible Toyota puts out a higher spec model, and that's likely going to be awesome assuming the price hike isn't insane. I still have my Gran Turismo dreams of owning one of the head JDM sports car models.
But yeah, still each to their own. I've also been leaning to avoid modding going forward (yeah buzzkill) with California and whatever laws kick in for automobiles with time passing. I'm even holding back doing anything more to my Z performance-wise. Probably would've been a different story if I had a space for a second car.
