Packwood Tour was this weekend. It was the first national event in the car. I'll start off by saying how much I absolutely hate how quickly RE's heat cycle out. My first set of tires are only about 4 months old and maybe have about 50-60 runs on them, and they have fallen off so far. Anyway, brand new set was had for the tour and the car just came back to life.
Saturday started off with the car feeling absolutely great. Unfortunately, the course was fairly tight which would make it difficult to not be straight timed by classes like STR, or even STS. But I ended up with a .526 second lead going into day two.
Sunday went a little differently. My co-driver's first run went without an issue. My first run, however, got bad fuel starve. It's my first time having it. I knew it would happen at some point, but I went as low as 1/8 of a tank in the past without an issue. This time, it happened after a long right hand sweeper with just under 1/2 a tank. As my co-driver went on his second run (which he experienced fuel starve, as well), fuel was on it's way and I was able to add four gallons and finish the rest of our runs without an issue. This day, I ended up second fastest. But, I held on to the win. My first national win in my own car in quite a long time.
This weekend makes me really wish I was taking this car to nationals, this year. After winning last year in an STI, this car just feels waaaaaaaayyyyy better in sweepers, with a much less need to shift compared to the Subaru. It's hard to see this car not be better on the sweeper heavy courses in Lincoln.
