Modern cars are very good at self-diagnosis. Get an OBD code reader. I suggest buying one but most auto parts stores will have loaners you can borrow. Some will even go out to the parking lot and read the DTC(s) for you.
Hook up the reader (connector is on bottom of dash, next to steering column).
After a few seconds the reader and the ECM will shake hands and you can read the DTC(s).
