Default Prev owners' cheap paint...

So aside from the crap job he had done on the wheels, the calipers must've been done the same way. I looked at them and started chipping away the red and revealed this beautiful black/gray flake Some of it is on there pretty good however, any tips to get it off without damaging the paint underneath? (And no, I don't believe the caliper is leaking brake fluid)
