I have a '14 and have the same overflow hose running down the radiator fans and onto the tray.
That being said, this sounds like the shop didn't properly seal the threads on the sensor or properly clamp the hoses where they meet the adapter. If they installed the sensor in the heater hose, which seems to be the most likely location, you dont need a jack or jackstands. But get some anyways.
If I were you. Take another car to the shop. Explain to them in exquisite detail what happened, and why you think it happened. Tell them to pay for the tow, and to fix it. Tell them you want to see what theyve done to fix it before they put everything back together. You want pictures. You want a written warranty.
