Been there, done that. It wasn't quite gov't hand outs, but we didn't have much and combined with parents that grew up in the Depression... well, you get the idea.
lots of hand-me-downs (which is really kinda odd because I was the oldest and only boy...

I have a hard time tossing things, partly because of the way I was raised and spending time in the Marines. Hell, we got Army cast offs for equipment and we were still using radios & systems built in the 50s... and it was the late 80s...
