I also went through tire rack for a square set up. I opted for higher end 18 wheels, 8 inches wide, and Michelin X-Ice tires. I went for the nicer wheels because I still wanted to look good, and it's kind of nice to have the all black wheels half the year; it gives the car a different personality. I'm also using spacers to preserve the look of the summer spacing.

I've been using the tires since 2012 with plenty of tread, so they've lasted a while. They're really good on snow, probably the best I've used, but they're also really good on cold dry and wet pavement, which is honestly when you're going to encounter most of the winter.

Highly recommend a good set of snow tires, no matter what you do if you're going to drive in the winter.
