No, I did as a kid and still have a boatload of coins in a safe deposit box. I should probably sell them so someone else doesn't have to deal with that later--but I probably won't.

Be careful venturing into currency. I have a friend who started a currency trading business several years ago. He chose currency over coins because so few (relative to coins) people were interested in currency that there was much more potential profit in trading it. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it; just do your research more thoroughly than you would if you were dealing with coins.
