While, it is generally true that a higher tread wear rating indicates greater longevity, it should be noted that the industry does not adhere to a specified process for determining UTQG ratings. Each manufacturer determines their own grading criteria for the tread wear, traction, and temperature ratings that comprise the UTQG.
