Yeah, but the point was that a "halo" car (a term which is used way too often, and might not even be intended to apply to Supra) should be a statement by the company that "this is the best of the best of what we do".
With this Mark Supra, Toyota would seem to be telling the world "The very best car that we can sell you right now is actually a BMW." Which is more than a bit embarrassing for them, really.
I guess we now know what Toyota wants to be when it grows up... a Bimmer!
