I still don't get how it was cracked that badly. I have the exact one as well. Moto g6. This thing is fairly rugged considering how glassy it is. No micro scratches and I use it without any protection as well. Good news is that replacing the screen is easy. Just need a heat gun and a suction cup to remove the screen. You'll need a spudger as well to get rid of the shards that the suction cup leaves behind.
Get her a basic rubberized case. The phone is very very slippery to hold due to the curved glass back.
