Now if it has lights, it's still white to white, but it's usually blue and black from the fan to the black wire in the house.

I was trying to hook up the black and blue to black. The way my grandfather wired the house is really weird. Took some thinking but I did finally get it going Saturday night. The electrician came out and put a piece of tape on the wrong bundle of wires which is what really slowed me down. Lol
