The helmet should meet a Snell Standard. The old Standard was Snell 2010. The one still be used is Shell 2015. The New Standard is Shell 2016. Also, helmets 5 years of age and older may not be allowed. Always check with who you are running with. If a helmet has taken a hit. Do not wear it again. Helmets are a one time deal. The foam liner in them is designed to crush on impact. Once crushed. It's done it's job.
