I'm not sure that increases the weight as much as the steering feels more direct and connected. I guess some would say it feels heavier. I now have a smaller aftermarket wheel and it is significantly lighter in ones hands even on the steering column. The wheel does feel heavier from a resistance perspective and the feedback is greatly enhanced. It also feels more precise with steering input requiring less input and increased ability to make small adjustments. I guess that is why real racecars have them!
