Hello everyone. I just took delivery of my first Z, a 6MT 2017 base with less than 8k miles. It's been about 20 years since I've driven a manual (when I was too young to even have a license), and the entire internet (not just these forums) had me afraid of the clutch in these cars. I'm happy to say that I only stalled twice on the road during a hill start.
In addition to the threads about the clutch, I read a lot of posts about "the rattle". I've seen a few different theories as to what causes it, but for me, I get it in neutral when I disengage the clutch; it goes away when clutch-in. Is this version of the problem with the clutch engagement considered normal as well?
The only other problem I've seen is that the battery gauge once or twice seemed to be giving incorrect readings. It was past 16. When I restarted the car, I noticed on the gauge sweep that the volt meter started from 8 instead of 0, and moved past 16, almost like it's offset from where it should be. It doesn't do this on every start.
All in all, I love this car; I've wanted it for years. I have the ability to walk away no questions asked within the first 7 days, but I'm really hoping my problems are minor/fixable. It's still well under warranty, but the rattle does worry me, like it seems to worry most first timers to this car
