Well I believe it is time for an update on my Z. I enjoyed my z for about 3 years now. In that time I did the art pipes along with AAM dual 3" exhaust, gen 3 intakes and I decided to go with ark gt-s spring. The car has been a blast to drive and I have had fun every step of the way. So now bear with me. In that time I sold my s14 and purchase an 01 prelude as my daily. Not long after I purchased a non running eclipse gs-t which I basically restored back to life as my high school dream car. But after all this I was still missing that excitement when it came to my vehicles. So I wound up selling both DSM and honda to support a seperate build that I have been wanting to do since I had my supercharged 350z previously. I thankfully found a used AAM twin turbo kit with the borgwarner efr turbos off a wrecked 2016 white nismo. I got this kit from a local junkyard for $3500!!!! The guy even let me see the vehicle it came off of and it had only 2k miles on the odometer.talk about a steal since he was originally asking for almost $8k with the exhaust which I did not need. So I needed to replace some parts such as the intercooler, piping, engine mount bracket and replace a pipe that was welded to the passenger side turbo. Other than that the kit was mint. So in October of this past year I made a list of everything I needed to purchase and repair so when black friday came my kit could come together for the best price possible. So after many days on the phone I found the best combination of parts for my build and power level I wanted to achieve. I called Z1 motorsports and ordered their csc elimination kit along with their roadrace clutch kit with their lightened flywheel. All the fluids for the trans and diff. Some 1000cc injectors aeromotive stealth 340lph pump and their poly engine mounts. I then called up treadstone and decided to make a custom intercooler similar to a gtr setup or the F.I. kit. I went with this instead of a new aam intercooler because o performance and cost effectiveness. My intercooler is 0.5" thicker and 2" longer than the AAM stage 2 intercooler and it cost me $1200.00 less. So $357 for a larger fmic that is very capable and looks great. I had a friend weld the seams and install the intercooler mounts the I designed so I could still uses the factory front nismo damper. He also welded the ebay intercooler piping kit so now I have solid pipes coming from the turbos instead multiple couplers that could fail. My favorite part about this entire build was that it was completed in my garage with 1 friend to help me and a couple over cases of beer. I have a 2 car garage with limited room and no fancy tools. To remove the motor I first removed the transmission one night. And the following night I got the car about 2.5 to 3 feet in the air and lowered the subframe with the motor only using a transmission jack and floor jack. Now I do not recommend this but those were the tools we had and we made it work with honestly little headaches. The worst part was waiting for things in the mail. We started tearing everything apart on November 30 and finished everything about 2 weeks ago. I finally had my tune 2 days ago in the Tampa area at Maximum Velocity. The car is amazing and has that excitement I have been waiting for and it was all worth the wait and bloody knuckles lol. And the best part in my mind is that this entire build with custom parts, clutch, fuel system and turbos only cost me about $7400. Which the kit alone goes for 10k plus. Thank you all for reading and if you have any question please feel free to ask.
