The Fiero, like the Toyota MR2 was referred to as "the poor man's Ferrari" in reference to the MR layout (most Ferrari's are MR layout).

The MR layout can easily provide oversteer, making it an excellent sports/racing platform, but similar to the RR follies of the 1980s turbo 911s, all too easy to wreck.

Insurance costs on Fieros went through the roof as inexperienced drivers wrecked them with regularity and after a five year run, the model was ended.

PS
And for those making the connection, the Toyota MR2 also has a well-deserved reputation for crashing due to overdriving.

While I could see a MR or RR car as a plaything (Alpine 110!!), I would never have one as a daily driver as you would eventually have a slip in attention and get bitten.
I will attest to the MR2 wanting to swap ends , mostly in any damp or wet conditions! Dry I drove it to the limit never a worry, you knew from your seat where the edge was.

Rusty... PA is $$$$ no matter what the ticket is!
