Default Local shop horror

Long story short, I was having low oil pressure issues. I took it to the Nissan dealer and found out what was wrong (oil gallery gasket problem).

I took it to a shop with great reviews and that deal with Zs and Gs (more in the performance enhancing aspect). They should they could service it and I'd be changing out the water pump, etc. while they had the timing cover off.

I told them what I wanted but they insisted on diagnosing it on their own for "warranty" purposes. They proceeded to install a new oil pressure sensor on the upper oil pan. Eventually, they proceed with servicing the timing area. They complete said job.

As they are putting the final pieces on, they realize they are having issues with the car when it goes above 4k RPM. They will be working on this aspect tomorrow so I have to leave the car with them (it has already been about two weeks). They ask if I have had issues with this in the past so I say no. They also inform me the oil is leaking from the oil pressure sensor area on the upper oil pan. Apparently it is easy to overtighten and crack. They fixed it with some epoxy sealant (they claim it is high grade).

They are acting as if it was a issue prior to me bringing in the car. The Nissan dealer made no mention of it leaking. I told them they made no mention of it leaking (they themselves changed the sensor).

I went to the shop today and told them that they never mentioned it leaking before. The guy says he did. Honestly, if it was leaking before..they would have put it in the invoice and gotten it handled.

My theory is that they accidentally cracked it and didn't realize it. They put the car together and realized it was leaking. Since it is a labor intensive job, they patched it up. I assume they told me and tried to pin it as a "old issue" just in case I have problems in the future. They explained they will "work with me" if I ever choose to get it fixed down the road.

I'm going to call them back later today and explain to them all of this. I'd hate to turn this into a lawsuit but it seems like they did crack it. If they knew it was leaking...why wasn't this investigated?
