Ah, you learn something new everyday... After investigating, yes aftermarket parts are paid for by the at fault party given that the parts have receipts and prices paid can be proven. Alot of times if you make claims on your own insurance, aftermarket parts are not covered. And lastly, it all depends on state laws.

My accident was not my fault and soccer mom ran away, then found uninsured. I had to do a claim through my own insurance which is why I was misinformed. Also, just because you have uninsured motorists coverage, it doesn't mean the vehicle is covered. This is what happened to me, I was covered for medical costs by uninsured motorists, but the car is not covered. Again, that's the state of Maine. Progressive is also the WORST insurance out there, the wanted to "buff and blend" my bumper. I paid everything out of my own pocket in the end.
