Thank you for your suggestion. I've been working through all the possible covers for a couple of weeks, and considering the pros and cons of each. Finally settled on a Weathershield HP last night. Not 100% sold, but it will probably serve my needs OK.

Seriously, these manufacturers need to get their act together, and offer a good design that fits snug in the wind. I was considering a universal cover because they come with a good elastic band around the bottom edge, but I also knew that mirror pockets would help keep the sides from flapping against the paint and, in general, offer a more secure fit. I don't think the Weathershield HP has an inner fleece lining, but I went with it because it is supposed to be the most gentle on paint...but...you also have to pay extra for the cinch clamps front and rear to secure the cover.

I was shocked when I looked at the uber California Car Cover custom designs that just hang loose around the bottom of the car. What's up with that?

I also purchased fitted nylon wheel covers to keep sand and black tire goop from transferring to the inside of the cover.
