IIRC, as long as the PID is there, the light will stay on. I don't think misfire PIDs will auto-clear when condition is restored to normal. The FSM can confirm/refute.

Buy/borrow a scan tool and try clearing the PID(s). If the PID(s) will clear, the light should go off.
