Strange noise when engaging clutch at high rpm
At high rpm (4k+), when engaging the clutch and you do not pefectly rev match, so the car’s inertia raises engine rpm, a rattling/grinding noise that is high more than low pitched occurs. It does not occur during normal driving, only when engaging the clutch at high RPM. I did not notice it for the first couple of weeks of ownership of the car. Normally, I rev match well enough for this noise to not occur, but when heel and toeing or just when I don’t blip the throttle enough it happens. Sometimes, it also happens when hard braking in gear at high rpm. The sound “bounces”, kind of like the forces on the drivetrain components in these instances. The car feels totally normal otherwise, even when the sound occurs. No discernable detrimental effects could be noted. I never had this issue with my 2006 350z.
Anyone have any ideas on its origin? I’ll post a video to help soon. Thanks.
