don't use regular oil. Theres no need to use the nissan ester oil. you can use any type of 5w-30 synthetic. i use redline. some people use mobil 1, whatever floats your boat. but you should be using 5w30 full synthetic.

This is completely false.

That said for the sake of the engine you are best to stick with synthetic. The cheaper synthetics such as Penzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge, Mobil 1, etc hold up just fine. If you are just an average driver you can also extend your change interval.

thanks for input. so u guys r saying the nissan ester oil is full synthetic?? do you guys get maintanance service schedule done @ dealer?? or do u guys just change oil by urself and never go to dealer for service? Im about to go to dealer for 24000km service. but they said will charge for CAD$400.

The Nissan Ester oil is a partial Synthetic with a proprietary blend of additives.

I do my own oil changes and service. The "scheduled" services by the dealer are just a way for them to make money by doing very little. You can look up in the service manual what is required at each maintainence interval, but at 24K km it shouldn't be much, it's mostly inspection.
