Yep..mine is at the driver side door. Almost sounds like the glass is loose or something but it's not. It's been driving me crazy for about 3 mos now. It does is sporadically and when I try to see what it is, it goes away or I really can't find it. I have not been able to recreate it for the service manager at the dealership. I also have an annoying squeak coming from the back somewhere. It only does that one when I go through rough patch of road.

I have a problem with my doors too, they just don't thud like a well built car. I want my doors to sound tuff and sturdy like a Mazda Miaitas

Mine is on the drivers side and more like the seat belt harness (plastic housing). Just started about a month ago...btw I have 22K miles on the car.

I'm at 30k. I've had the door inside plastic off, and the sound was still there, it's coming from the glass and the metal frame of the door (outside shell and inside shell). It's definitely the sound of glass vibrating or bumping against the door frame. Hmm.

i can recreate like u,,,its really annoying,, i went to dealership and they took door apart and readjusted but still making noise,,,anyone know how to take door panel apart??,,,:icon14: |
Taking the inside door paneling is pretty easy. Next to the inside door handle (on top near mirror), pop out the triangular looking plastic piece, there will be one bolt under that. Under the door handle (middle of the door) right above the map pocket, there is a plastic piece, pop that out, and there are two bolts there. Pop out the piece that holds all the window/door lock switches, disconnect it. Then just pull the entire inside of the door off, it's on clips, supper easy to do, grab at the corner near the rear view mirrors and just pull the entire thing off, should come off right away. Having done it a few times, I can probably take the door apart in like 2 minutes now.
Problem is that the sound is coming from inside the door, between the outer and inner metal shells of the door (and not so much/at all) from the inside door trim. You could take the inside shell off, but that seems like a pain, because then you also have to unmount the power window motor. |

|

after driving a bit today, i hear a metal clinging sound coming from somewhere around the instrument cluster. gonna have the dealer check it out but pretty sure they "wont be able to replicate it"
|
Still nothing on this? I am one of the lucky few that also has this rattle.
|
This developed for me about a month ago. Would love to hear if anyone took the door apart and found the actual cause. Driving me crazy as well...

I unfortunately never did figure it out. :(

squeak on bumps
About a month ago I noticed a squeak sound whenever I go over bumps. Its almost like a plastic on plastic squeak. I can not for the life of me locate the origin of the noise. To me it sounds like its coming from the passenger door. When I asked my girlfriend to listen for it, she said it sounds like its coming from the drivers side... It's driving me NUTS! I'm not even bothering with taking it to the dealer yet, just trying to find out WTF it is!!! If I locate mine I will be sure to post!
|
. I took my 2009 to the dealer with the same problem. They fixed it under warranty.

My drivers side door makes a noise when going over bumps. I know if I take it to the stealership they will say they don't hear it because they do not take the time to hear things. I will just wait for it to get worse so it happens more frequently!!

2 fixes for the noise - read on
Sorry I thought the rest of my post made it thru cyberspace, apparently not.
The issue is with the two guides that holds the window in the door frame. One guide has a plastic washer, the other does not. It's this guide as the noise ONLY occurs when the window is rolled up. One thought for those with out of warranty cars it to find a small rubber washer for both and grease it up. For both mine and the bros 2009 models with extended warranties (btw: they have paid for themselves over and over again, so IMO it's worth the extra $$ and buy it on your next new Z purchase). Nissan has updated the window regulator part number and this fixed the bros Z, been driving around for two months now and no more noise. My regulator was also replaced. Mine was different story, and note this issue is weather related, just like the rear hatch spring issue. When the weather changes to hot or cold it could rear its ugly head or will not. Mine was still making noise....so Nissan wanted to test a theory and replace ALL of the rubber weather stripping around the entire drivers door. Have the car back since Friday and drove at city street speed and highway speed and ITS GONE NOW. Hope this helps ! Cheers, Curtis :tiphat: |
