TSB for oil consumption on the VQ37VHR.

Wow... VHR has OC issue, too? I guess only VQ engine that didn't have any OC issue was HR then.

Isn't the HR the RevUp?

You think they can try to void warranty because the car has bolt on mods?

It's important to get documented on your file even if they do not have a TSB yet for the 370Z. It MAY help if you ever have to Lemon Law the car, although I believe Cali Law is 18k miles to have the issue reported to manufacture. Either way they would pro rate the mileage on the car if it ever comes down to a buy back.

I would also ask the dealer to start an oil consumption test on the car and if they look at you funny....then run fast to another dealer. You should be checking your oil weekly and when it’s cold (sat over night). The dipstick High / Low hash marks are 24mm between the high mark (hole) and the low mark (hole). And the mm between the high and low marks is 24mm which equals to 1 quart.

If this issue starts to raise its ugly head on the 370Z then a new thread should be opened, because it will get long. Just look at my350z thread, it's at 219 pages. RevUp Oil Consumption TSB and discussion - MY350Z.COM Forums

They'd get taken to court unless the owner didn't want to fight over a $5k+ issue... There's no way they could prove minor bolt-ons were causing excessive oil consumption.

Especially if those boltons are intake/exhaust bolt-ons. I have been taking my car to the dealer for service, so hopefully that will help out if I have to make a claim.

Nope, RevUp was the 05 Anniv MT and 06 MT engines. HR came after the Revup on the 07 & 08 models.

They have to prove the mods caused OC. Like WarmAndSCSI said.

Yes, you and I spent way too much time in the OC thread at that other site a few years back

I saw an 05 VQDE in the dealer a few months back getting an engine swap due to OC, so they were not excluded from the ugly OC head. It was also under warranty for the engine swap.

I honestly do not know. I have Injen CAI and Nismo CBE and the dyno runs I have did not give A/F readings. Nismo CBE is far between test pipes. Interesting though, I am sure someone has dyno runs on theirs with A/F readings, it would be a matter of searching the forum

John, that seems like a lifetime ago. I am hoping to not have to go to that dark place again.
