2009 Base AT RED 370z 23k miles
In New York..
Never been red lined. Minor usual dings/chips on hood/bumper, and had left door shell replaced with a new one covered by insurance, last year when someone ran a light and bumped into me (was a minor crash). How much should I sell for? (Besides calculating the price from kbb.. is there a better metric to sell to private parties?) Need to move to getting a 4 seater |

Well since insurance covers your door it is going to show up on Autocheck and Carfax. Look it up on Edmunds and probably try and get private party good value. I know my credit union won't even write a loan on a car that has a accident on the Autocheck or Carfax. Hope that helps.

Yeah its gonna show on carFax but it was simply "cosmetic" damage.. a door shell was replaced, a fender was replaced. I'm assuming mostly "enthusiasts" drive the Z (vs. an average layman that would think of any sorta accident as something "bad")
So..if I am able to show on paper, the work that was done, proving it was just cosmetic and didn't affect anything under the hood or any other functional parts... is it fair to expect close-to KBB/Galves value on the car? Question being, by how much extra (if at all?) shall the value of my car reduce due to a cosmetic accident? |

Edmunds has privatey party between 21,000 and 22,000. You definitely want as much documentation on the repairs as possible. Just be honest and upfront with people, I know I can spot paint work quickly and if I have been told the car didn't have any and I find it I walk from the deal immediately. It could very well come down to is the potiential buyers lending institution willing to loan money on a car with a accident. My credit union runs every car through Autocheck and won't buy one with a wreck.

Of course, I have all the paper work on me from the body shop which Gieco recommended.
I guess my target buyer will be someone who understands enough, that replacing a mere door shell doesn't really do any bad. Thanks to all. If anyone is interested in details/purchasing, hit me up. |

youll prob get more on a trade in anyways, esp if you buy something from them. The guys on here will prob low ball you at this point and say like mid 20s or less. My advice to you, go and see how much they will give you and then come back here and offer it for a bit more. I mean I know you can talk up the value of your car to a dealer but he will just hit you will fees to absorb it. Good luck.

22.5k final offer if anyone interested. kbb says 24k. comes with 1k worth of sensors/alarm/remote start.
(have factored in dealership offering a "nice" figure on trade in and making up for it by inflating other costs in the new car deal.) have paid off the loan, my lien release should complete this coming week. |
