If topgear can teach a blind man in one afternoon to drive a stick then you can learn too. Just stick with it.

Learning to drive stick was one of the most fun driving experiences I ever had.

I was 17 with a bunch of my friends when I bought my first used Integra.

I must've stalled over 20 times in the course of driving it home. Thankfully I chose to pick it up in the late evening when traffic in my area was light. It only took me an hour to learn how to operate the vehicle. After that, it was all practice.

Do it.

You won't regret it.

However, there comes a point in a person's life when they just want to enjoy the drive and not have to worry about changing gears. Then by all means, get the auto. But for me as a driver, I want to feel engaged with the car and a manual is the only way that can happen.

Are you still selling your baby or are you now convinced to try stick handling it again? I might be interested in your car.

Hey Viligans-

I'm still on the fence. I've learned to drive the car quite well and haven't stalled in weeks. I'd be open to hearing offers on the car, it really just depends on how big of a hit i'd take on the car, anything more than $2-3k and I'm better off keeping it.

Thanks.

Happy to hear you were able to improve your handling skills

I'm not in a hurry to purchase and I am willing to wait until this coming summer to see what type of deals will be made available once people start switching their cars for the 2012 model. But I will keep you on my list of potential sellers.

Cheers!

You can't just trade it at the dealership, or are they going to rip you off? I mean it is a 2011, is it really a $7k hit once you drive it off the lot?

Yea you're better off keeping it. I'm pretty sure you're gonna take more than a 2-3k hit on it. Most people can probably find a new one for less than 39,500.

I'm serious about acquiring a Z but I'll be patient and see if the anymore come available within the next 4-5 months. I'll be importing to Canada once I move back in December 11.

I really dont get this... sounds almost like the Z was an impulse buy and you didnt really want it in the first place.

I learned to drive stick on my first car and had so much fun learning because I loved the car. So you stall a few times and maybe look like an idiot trying to get moving at a stop light, big deal.

Like a kid who buys a snowboard the first time he ever hits the slopes. If youre gonna give up after falling on your *** a few times then whyd you buy it?

I dunno, sounds off to me.

Let me edit my post. At the end of the day, to each their own man - GLWS.

I guess I value comfort, luxury, and space more than I thought, I'm most likely looking at something like a 335i/S4/S5/M3/C63 AMG instead.

Good luck with the sale. You may want to just go ahead and see how much you can get for it as a trade in for the car you want.

I never owned a stick car before my 370Z. I've driven stick only a handful of times (not that well, may I add) and learned my 370Z in less than a day.

I bet the silly rev-match is whats throwing you off. A friend of my brothers bought a Z recently. My brother was making fun of his shifting and how much gas he kept giving it until I told him about the rev match.

Do not expect the little blip of gas in the rev match to handle the entire shift. You might want to try it with the Rev-match off as long as it doesn't also turn off some traction control or something.

I learned how to drive stick by test driving used cars. Of course, revving the gas to 3k and dumping the clutch wasn't exactly good practice for daily driving but it helped nail down the basics.
