I'm looking for any 2009+ 370Z Coupe w/ Sport Package for purchase anytime between November 2010 to January 2011 . I am willing to travel within 300 miles of NYC.

Default WTB 2009+ 370Z Coupe 6MT w/Sport Package [300 miles around NYC]

I'm looking for any 2009+ 370Z Coupe w/ Sport Package for purchase anytime between November 2010 to January 2011.

I am willing to travel within 300 miles of NYC.

Must have the following:
-6 speed manual transmission
-sport package
-no accidents/ clean title
-no significant power modifications (ie. only bolt ons)

Preferred option:
-stock/OEM look (no hellaflush bling bling i want lambo door setups)

Flexible on:
-color
-equipment package/options
-mileage (don't really care if it is considered "high mileage" for a M3) as the price must reflect such mileage

Willing to pay:

2009 w/sport package
-without Touring package: $22000
-with Touring package: $24000

2010 w/sport package
-without Touring package: $24000
-with Touring package: $26500

I am basing these prices on what I can get a brand new 2010 370Z Coupe 6MT w/ Sport package for via USAA haggle free which will probably go lower once the 2011 370Z hits the showrooms..



I'm flexible with pricing but it has to be within that range.

Also looking at the following cars:
-2004+ Honda S2000
-2006+ Corvette Coupe 6MT
-2007+ BMW 335i 6MT Coupe/Sedan
-2007+ 350Z Coupe 6MT
-2008+ G37S Coupe 6MT

Your numbers seem way off to me. 2011's won't hit many places for a long time (5-6 months for central states from what I can gather). I would expect to see you pay about $3,000 more for the base + sports and about $5000 more for touring + sports. Good luck to you, though.

I am in the Tri-State area (NYC). 2011 will hit dealer lots in November. For $3000 more, I would buy brand new via USAA and its haggle free pricing. Used car sales have to represent savings and value and there's a certain risk premium that has to be factored into that.

We're also moving into the fall/winter season where buyers disappear from the market in droves - which will drive down prices. Don't forget that Ford is going to be flooding the market soon with their awesome Mustang 5.0 which will put downward pressure on brand new pricing from Nissan.

Good luck. I definitely understand your logic here, just dont see it happening in the real world. I cant recall any Zs selling for those prices.

yea, your prices are way off base, I was car shopping last month and was offered 25k trade-in value for my 2010 base w/ sports and it has 15k miles on it.

Trade-in prices are vague because you have to let us know how much over invoice your paying on the car you're buying brand new.

I go by how much I can buy a brand new 370z for via USAA with no haggling. That sets the price of the value of used cars for me. If I can get a base + sports for a little under $30k, then I have to see at least $4000 in savings from buying used or else it's just not worth it.

Trade prices are not vague in the manner you are describing, they are vague based on things like location(supply/demand in the area's market) and maybe the dealer itself and how flexible they are. The dealer does not care what you paid for the car, they care what they will give you and resell it at. They care what the overall market pays for the car, which you can get a pretty solid understanding of.

The price you specifically pay with the USAA discount is that of a very very small percentage of the market. I mean, I completely understand what you're saying about buying a used car not being worth it unless you can personally save $4000(this number varies person to person obviously) or more. Either way, ultimately the price is set by the overall market, so you can't expect everyone to just drop their price because you and a very small percentage of other 370z buyers can get a better discount on a new 370z. If we're telling you that dealers are offering us 24-25k for our 370z on a trade-in, we can get a shade more on private party on top of that from someone else. You can't expect us to say "oh well he has that USAA discount so i'll just sell to him at a lower price instead of the other guy who wants to give me $2000 more." I understand you aren't telling us to drop our prices however, but it's going to be hard to find a used Z at the prices you are looking for, due to the overall market.

Trade in prices are vague because when people mention trade in, most of the time they don't mention the price they are paying for the brand new car.

Most trade-in sales involve buying a new car at price X and getting price P for your trade in.

Basically, you're paying: X - P.

However, if you jack up the price of the brand new car, you can jack up the price of the trade in.

X - P = (X+5) - (P+5)

Hence, if you look solely at the "trade in" price, it seems like you're car is a lot more valuable than before (ie. P+5).

Obviously I've not taken into account things like tax savings and such, but the basic idea is clear. The only way to truly determine what a car is worth is a straight sale to a dealer. How much would the dealership pay for your 370z if that is the only part of the transaction?

I misunderstood what you meant there, but yea, you're definitely right. A dealer is going to flex a little more when you're buying a new car(whether they haggle that price by up'ing the cost of your new car is another story of course).

But I guess to give you a real world example of what you'd get, one of my coworkers sold his base/sports to carsense here in philly(pretty much the same thing as carmax), and they gave him $23750 and he didn't buy a car from them. I don't know the mileage on it or anything(could ask if you're interested), nor do I know much about how carsense operates and how they compare with other dealers when it comes to trades, so I can't be too specific for ya, but just to give you a general answer to your question, but of course it doesn't factor in supply/demand in this location, but I will say that 370's seem to grab a decent premium in this area compared to most.

I found this post interesting as I am getting ready to feel the market on my 370Z. It's a 2009 Sport 6MT in Brilliant Silver with splash gurads, mats, and illuminated kick plates. Car sits in the garage with 13500 miles on it and is cleaner then when I picked it up from the dealer. All I know is that I would not even consider letting it go for $22000!
