so why couldn't nissan have a different nismo Z on display at Zcon than the one he won? Maybe they intended to give away the one in the lobby, but since he couldn't go, they shipped him an alternate one once it came in the port.

just sayin.

I really don't disagree with your post...I wasn't really taking it personally; just pointing out that there are those of us here who don't try to hide behind a screen name. :)

Again, I think most of the problems with this whole mess is of the OP's making. Yeah; some people probably overreacted a bit and may have been unnecessarily harsh but I think they can be forgiven a bit since they were only reacting to how the OP has presented himself and his situation.

As for the price question, I'm not an expect but I would say that in a private party situation; he'll likely be looking at somewhere between $30-$34K; from a dealer/selling it at the car's wholesale price, considerably less...probably in the range of $25-$28K...those are just somewhat educated guesses of course but I think they are likely in the ball-park.

If, in fact, they had already shipped or were in the process of shipping the NISMO that was actually given away then I think it likely they would have arranged for one to be on display during the convention; either from a local dealer's stock or perhaps even something from NNA's own supply (i.e. one they use for such events). Further, Smyrna is a point of entry for cars coming from outside the U.S. so they may have simply diverted one to FL and pulled one from undelivered inventory for display at ZCON.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter very much unless the NISMO on display was the actual vehicle given away because if that was the case, the OP's explanation doesn't make sense because the timing doesn't work.

I agree with both of you and would really love to hear the whole story. I think that the truth will probably be just a small misunderstanding/misquote and that the whole thing could have been handled better. Thanks for putting a range to it, maybe the OP will take a look at that and adjust as necessary.

exactly, shouldn't discount that he won it just because there was a nismo at the convention.

NIZMOZ 08-11-2010 04:42 PM

I am in contact with a few that ran ZCON2010. I will let you know what they say about the situation at hand.

I asked about the car at the show and was told it was shipped to him, very disappointed as that should have been the highlight of the awards banquet (aside from the Mr. K video conference). Not to mention that it states in the rules of the contest that you must be able to attend the event and pick the car up at the awards banquet of the convention. If I could appeal I would since they made the rules and they broke them. Whoever they are is just a sweepstakes promotion company that could care less.

The one in the hotel was just a display model for sure.

I have no reason to believe this guy is not legit I just hope he knows what he has and doesnt just give it away to some dummy thats gonna throw it away like he is doing.

If you would like to make $xxxxx cash and see the car go to good use please contact me. If not continue to be greedy and I hope your wife is worth it. I know its just a car but it cost you nearly nothing so the size of your family should not dictate if you keep it or not. I have a wife and 3 kids and if I were to win a car like that I would keep it.

You know, I think I'm going to order a 2011 NISMO just so I'll know that it doesn't get given away to someone who doesn't appreciate it (and so that maybe I can beat that PW 370Z in the next car show!) :)

Robert --- Funny stuff -- lets get a group buy and all of us get them before the unappreciative do. Unfortunately my wife drew an imaginary line at 3 Z's and I am at my current limit. There is something very wrong about people who drive cool vehicles (Z's and others) who a) do not know what they have or b) do not appreciate what they have. :driving:

BTW, I never hide behind screen names or avatars -- I just don't freely advertise.

The only thing about the NISMO is that I really like my nav, leather, upgraded stereo, bluetooth, XM with traffic and weather and as much as I hate to admit it in the open forum, I've really grown to like the 7 speed AT with paddle shifters too. :)

Amazing how attached one can get to all that stuff when I consider that my 1973 Formula 400 Firebird (my first new and purchased brand new) didn't even have AC or power anything for that matter (yet I'd sell my left arm if I could find one like it today in decent shape and for a fair price)!

I'm assuming he had to pay taxes on this and since he titled it in Florida you MUST have insurance and pay annual registration fees - that's hardly no cost to him. On top of that, would you make your wife park her car out in the driveway and give her car's spot to the new addition? :)

I too have no reason to doubt he has the car - I just hope he finds someone to take good care of it - have we even found out which # Nismo it is for 2010?

Yes

josh@z1 08-12-2010 03:18 PM

Of course I would make her park outside but better yet I would give up my parking spot in the garage so my wife and my nismo Z would be warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Diesel370 08-12-2010 06:53 PM

OP: Where in Florida are you located? I would like to come see it this weekend and make an offer.

NIZMOZ 08-13-2010 08:17 AM

Here is what ZCOn2010 CHAIR said. And let's just say they weren't happy about it but I removed the other info from the email to post what was needed here.

----

No - Nissan changed directions on that a month prior to the event. They pulled the winner (a guy somewhere in FL that couldn't make/attend convention) and decided not to do anything at ZCON.
