I really don't disagree with your post...I wasn't really taking it personally; just pointing out that there are those of us here who don't try to hide behind a screen name.

Again, I think most of the problems with this whole mess is of the OP's making. Yeah; some people probably overreacted a bit and may have been unnecessarily harsh but I think they can be forgiven a bit since they were only reacting to how the OP has presented himself and his situation.

As for the price question, I'm not an expect but I would say that in a private party situation; he'll likely be looking at somewhere between $30-$34K; from a dealer/selling it at the car's wholesale price, considerably less...probably in the range of $25-$28K...those are just somewhat educated guesses of course but I think they are likely in the ball-park.

But I'd like to ask all of you who are so furious about someone winning something he doesn't really want if you've ever applied to win something you didn't really want or need to win? I'm not saying that I wouldn't have LOVED to see a Z guy win the car, but it didn't go to me or you or someone else that lives on this site. It went to a guy who is more interested in a happy home than the ULTIMATE $40k fun car.

I'm still driving a Mustang because I can't bring myself to skin the money out of my wallet, but I've been lingering on this site and fantasizing about driving a Z for a long time. I don't buy one, not because I can't afford it, but because I want to spend my money on more important things-like my family. I left the Mustang sites because of the childish arguments like this one and it makes me sad to see so many 'mature' people doing the same thing here.

The OP needs to ignore the childishness and go on with the sale if he can find a buyer somewhere. For the rest of you, go ahead 'flame on', but realize that it's ridiculous to live such an angry lives while hiding behind screen names. None of you would say this to your mother if she'd applied and won!
Is there childishness going on here? Yeah...but if it's on one side it's on both and it's the OP, his attitude and the way he has presented himself that is the real problem.

I can't speak for everyone but no, I don't enter contests if I have no desire to win what is being offered. I also don't know that the OP did that but if he did them double-shame on him.

I think most of us here can understand that situations change...that he may have entered the contest with the best of intentions and as desirous of the NISMO ans any of us here would be and that maybe after some thought and talking with his wife they decided that keeping the car wasn't the smart thing for him/his family to do. IF that's what happened and if had he actually presented himself and the situation that way I suspect most people would have been much more forgiving. However, that isn't what he did.

If you look at his very first post, it's pretty obvious that he joined 370Z.com only to announce to us all that he won the car...talked about how happy and excited he as to have won and would be in Nashville at ZCON to pick it up...so far so good but then within the span of few days, claimed his wife wouldn't let him keep it because it wasn't a family car and made vague references to need the money for business, etc., etc.

Now just think for a minute...what kind of people generally frequent a site like this? I don't know the actual demographics but I'd be willing to bet real money that most of the folks here are younger males (early to maybe late 20s), many of which probably aren't married, who generally aren't the kind of guys who feel that a wife, if they have one, should have that much control in a marriage that she just gets to decide what kind of car the husband can or can't have (remember, there was no presentation that this had been a mutually, rationally discussed issue and decision) and even if they did think the wife should have that much control wouldn't be stupid enough to say so in a forum dripping with testosterone.

This IS, after all, a forum for 370Z aficionados - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders why he even came back to the forum once it was decided that the car had to go...what kind of reception did this guy really expect? And what gives him the right to get snooty because we don't jump on his offer to sell his free NISMO?

Let's also not forget that he didn't even follow the posting rules to post his car for sale (not to mention the wholly unreasonable price he is asking once he gout around to actually stating a price).

It seems the only reason he is even here now is because he apparently thinks that "Z" guys are going to pay his unreasonable asking price for his NISMO...if he wants (or his wife demands) that he unload the car then he needs to put the car on eBay or sell it to a dealer and be happy with his windfall...not berate us because we aren't falling all over ourselves to buy his car.

Bottom line is, he could have avoided ALL OF THE anger and angst had he just approached the forum differently.

I still haven't seen a shred of evidence that he:

1) Actually has a Z (in his own name)

2) Has the winning car.

Damn I bet he also only logged on once to answer the trivia questions and then he wins! Why enter and when you win, not want to keep the car? It was free! I would tell the wife to ! (side note: the reason I HAVE a Nissan 370Z is cuz I don't have a wife!)

This thread is an embarassment and an affront to the forum. I agree that the OP could have been more diplomatic and informed, but geez.

It is easy to rail against someone anonymously -- perhaps too easy. Many posts are written by those who have described themselves as "true Z" people and such. True Z people don't lambaste their comprades -- they offer help and guidance.

I wonder how many of those who were quick to point out that the guy had no balls, was pw'ed,, whatever else came to them, have wives or girlfriends? I mean women whose intelligence is at least twice that of a cornflake. I admire the man for owning up to his reality -- maybe they can't afford insurance, maybe they just had a kid or have medical expenses. No one knows, but it sure is fun to poke fun at him, isn't it?

I have been in the Z community for more than 30 years and own/owned more than a dozen Z's. True Z people aren't the guys whose only experience is with 300's, 350's, 370's. True Z guys have been through thick and thin with their (and other people's) cars. They act as if they belong to a brotherhood and they help each other, they broaden each other's knowledge. It is a sad statement for our forum, and society at large, that so many take the low road.

Makes me ashamed to be associated with those who get their kicks by putting other people down. I could go on, but my license does not allow me to practice therapy for free.

Very well put, OnZedge. The anonymity of the internet disgusts me. Most would simply congratulate the OP to his face, but here, where they can hide, they flame him for being an adult who puts his family first. How ridiculous...

For all those interested (not many, I'm sure). Look at most Mustang sites, their posters are so immature and idiotic that no adult visits them any longer. The websites have diminished the quality of a decent car to the point that people who like to read and share their experiences go other places. I also own a 70 Chevelle and the adults at those sites are truly adults who make it a wonderful location to share lessons and stories.

If you truly think that the 370Z is the most fantastic car ever then prove it by being an adult who can keep stupid comments to yourself and support those around you.

Some of you are demanding proof for something that you have no intent to purchase. If you're gonna buy the car, then IM the OP and get proof. If you're gonna complain about his wife, then maybe you should look within your own life for what you must be missing.

I can’t speak for anyone else here but many, many people here (like the 300 or so I’ve help buy a 370 or other new Nissan) and in the larger Z community know who I am and if anyone else wants to know, all they have to do is ask. I also wonder; if you two dislike the anonymity of the internet that much perhaps; are you going to let everyone know who you are???

I am not bashful about speaking my mind or letting people know who is doing the speaking just as I was with my criticism of certain deficiencies at ZCON 2010.

so why couldn't nissan have a different nismo Z on display at Zcon than the one he won? Maybe they intended to give away the one in the lobby, but since he couldn't go, they shipped him an alternate one once it came in the port.

just sayin.
