I just came across a post by Nissan's facebook page. It was teasing the revelation of a concept car at Tokyo Motor Show.
I got excited for a moment there until I realized it is the Nismo Leaf that will be unveiled. I watched the video again until it showed only a glimpse of the grill of the car.............then googled Nismo Leaf. The video's theme is of nature, flowers, trees, and leaves. We all already know the Nismo Leaf is coming. There was no need to pretend like there is a surprise concept car. Just say it is going to be Nismo Leaf. Oh, the disappointment.
Has anyone here ever thought that Nissan's thinking is that of a defeated person? If they don't get clever and wow the world with an irresistible sports car, that is exactly the reason why they won't see worthy sales numbers. Maybe, just maybe, their sports car sales suck because they don't outdo the competition. When one does not believe he can accomplish something, he never will. It all starts with belief. Again, they don't profit from sports cars much because they stagnate, not because the market and demand is too small. If Ford and GM can do it, Nissan must be able to do it.
Z is too impractical? Make it a 4 seater. Forget the purists and traditionalists. Z is underpowered? Give it 420-430 hp at the same curb weight of 3300 lbs. Will smoke SS and GT. Then, witness all the horsepower and straight line junkies rush to buy it. Most muscle and pony car owners only care about power anyway.
