Sort of like "jailbreaking" your iPhone???

I see too many things going wrong with what you are trying to do. There is a reason that "trained professionals" tune people's cars. One mistake and your car becomes undrivable and then you'll have to pay someone big $$$ to fix it.

It's great that you want to learn how to do this by "playing" but as they say, "be careful what you wish for..."

I am a very technical, computer oriented and an intelligent person (I think) and this is something that I would NEVER try without being taught by someone who knows what they are doing. It's not like writing a few lines of code to see a traffic light blink through its sequence. This is very dangerous ground that you want to tread.

With all that being said, I have never seen a software package that you are asking about. You can get a cable, but without having the matching software, it's not going to work. If you want a tune, save your pennies and have it done when you are ready. Maybe the tuner will let you watch as they manipulate the tune.
