So I inspected it and cleaned it as best as I could. Still no go. I took out the bolt from the other side and tried it on the driver's side. No go.

Now I was really scared. I thought I'd done some damage to the frame or something. But after removing every single plastic piece from the interior, I realized those guys at Nissan are always 3 steps ahead of me. It seems I only need to replace that piece, you can see some dents on the pictures. And the dent of the bolt.
