I was just going by what a previous poster found on the Craftsquare website. "R-Type- This indicates a racing model option. This option includes a specific black base and a lockable cap applied to the standard F and N1 mirror to secure the mirrors under intense vibration".
I took that as it is can be unlocked too. I would assume it's probably some kind of set screw that locks them in place.
