Haha.
Alright, here goes. I will admit my shame.
So I took the car to a buddies shop to use his scales in an attempt to do a bit of corner balancing. I was working alone and was looking to add weight to the driver's seat. I got the bright idea of using an couple of old batteries to add to some weight i already had. I wrapped them in plastic, but one of them managed to leak out of the plastic. i almost immediately realized the problem, removed the battery, drowned the area in baking soda, pulled the seat out, removed the bottom portion, hosed it down. This was about 4-5 months ago. All seemed good and I thought I'd avoided disaster. Few days ago I get out of my car and there is a tear on the leather portion of the seat bottom. seems the acid had worked its way in to a small crack in the leather (the normal wear and tear type cracks, not anything you would consider messed up or broken. Anyway, it made the leather around that area super brittle.
So that's the story. I know it was a dumb move with the battery, and I know I deserve what I got. Now I just need to figure out how to get my baby back to good.
