That definitely sounds like you have a glazed spot on the left front rotor. This can be caused by excessive heat by being in stop and go traffic or braking at the last second when coming to a lights.

This can be remedied by machining the rotor. Also, if the glazed spot is too deep, you will be having to get new rotors.
