VDC is actually more about cutting throttle if it thinks you are getting too big for your britches, although it definitely applies the brakes, too. There is another sort of braking nanny at play here as well: ABLS (anti-braking limited slip). It pulses the rear brakes whenever slip is detected, and here's the kicker ...

You can't turn off the ABLS feature unless you disable ABS altogether. The ABLS is really designed to function more as a LSD than a braking nanny. But it will definitely wear down your rear brake pads if your driving activates it often.
