Your battery absorbs any voltage spikes,etc. & reduces the chance for alternator failure...being a daily driver,not sure if I'd skimp on the 20 or so pound weight savings there.
I put this Optima in mine & have had 0 problems,,,I also have them in 2 older Chevy trucks (8-10+ years old each)
Lots of different agm batteries on the market now,but my company started using these years ago & I tried them out with very good success...terminals will not corrode on these & can be mounted sideways,upside down,etc.
