I'm reasonably finicky when it comes to my cars, but I realize that rock chips will happen on the front bumper and air dam.
However, I was taking a look at a pearl white 2016 Nismo locally for sale, and there was a chip right in the middle of the driver's door right through to bare metal, probably from a "door-ding," but there is no dent associated with it. Oblong-shaped, longest dimension 1/4".
Because of the positioning of this mark, it's a deal-breaker for me. Having to look at it every time I open the door would drive me mad! I've read through this thread...it looks like spot repairing something like this will not end up with satisfactory results. True? Even if I had a paint shop do it?
How well would a complete door panel paint job match the rest of the car? Would it be especially noticeable depending upon the angle of the light?
