I want to be clear about the additional idler pulley kit that I offer.
1. It will NOT change the ratio of the SC drive so it will not increase boost, but it will eliminate belt slip which will let you achieve the boost you are set for.
2. This additional pulley goes on the main drive serpentine belt that drives the SC jackshaft. It does not go on the SC drive belt which is the small eight rib belt that runs from the Jackshaft to the SC.
3. This design is not mine, it was originally done by Stillen (that is why the threaded hole exist in the SC mounting bracket). They apparently were using this additional idler pulley early on and then abandoned it for some reason. My speculation is that a little belt slip is extra insurance for Stillen in that the boost level is controlled by some designed in belt slip at high rpm.
4. PaulyZ came up with the part number for the idler pulley and a six rib belt that he is/was using. PaulyZ has since disappeared from the forum or at least the boost threads.
5. My part of this is designing a custom spacer that works properly with the "PaulyZ" pulley and finding an eight rib belt that could be modified to work for this application.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion of what is going on. Just remember that there are TWO drive belts involved, the main serpentine belt (seven rib) that drives everything off of the crankshaft and then the SC drive belt (eight rib).
If you decide to go to the 9lb boost setup either by using the Stillen 9lb pulley or the Vortec pulley, you will need the additional idler pulley to eliminate belt slip at high rpm.
All information has been disclosed in the forum on how to do this. What I am offering is the parts to do the mod with as little frustration as possible by eliminating the parts hunt.
