If you ask any person with any experience working on fuel systems, they will tell you that the gas gauge is only an 'estimation' of the amount of fuel remaining in the gas tank.

It's not a precise measurement, if you want a precise measurement, you will have to go to a weight based sensor and even those will not be 100% drop dead accurate.


Bottom line, figure out what distance between fill ups you are comfortable with and fuel up accordingly.
