Special thanks to Nismo #91 for taking the pictures. Great job! To bad we did not get to meet trackside.
Race recap:
We started Friday sorting the car and getting some track time. The car is still not set up correctly along with no ABS make for a handful. The motor and tranny ran flawless and all coms, video as well. In the race there are 5 classes 1-5, one being the slowest and 5 the fastest. we put the car on pole in CLass 3! Class five has very fast cars with some pro drivers along with v8's. (we were in class 4 at the glen) and classes are based on average times for each team and all drivers. total 60 cars and 17 cars in class three, #13 was put in the 19th spot on the grid. So we were feeling good and ready to go.
Race 1 Saturday:
I started the race and got up to 11th overall and was dicing back and fourth between 1st and second position in class. The car was running well, motor strong but had to manage the ill handling and lack of proper setup. (Snap oversteer) Then 15 minutes into stint number one I collected some debris on track and pierced the front right tire and had a blow out. Back to the garage and we lost 40 minutes due to the tire change and a fuel leak. Team drove all day, motor and tranny solid, but still not sorted handling wise.
We finished the day 8th in class, 30th ish overall, not very happy with that. We made many mistakes in the pits and the team had many four offs and spins. All in all a very frustrating day.
Day 2 started out and we had a fuel leak, leaking on the left rear tire. On the out lap for warm up prior to the start of the race I almost spun the car as it was soaked with fuel and felt like it was on ice. Started the race and came in after 3 laps as the car was undrivable. Found the leak lost another 35 minutes and we settled in to a pace. Pits and driving was much better, cas was running great! The final stint our driver get in with 2 hours in the race running 9th in class spins and collects a boxster. Our day was done at that point. Very frustrating, but we learned alot. We are going to take time to re-evaluate the team and its goals along with fixing and sorting the car.
I'll post some video's as they come in.
