Bridgestone Potenza or Continental Extreme Contact are both good tires for a daily drive. I've also heard good thing about Hankook, but I have no experience with brand.

As for tire sizing, unless your tracking I'd just stick to the OEM sizes 245/255 and 275/285. Maybe it's a male thing, but bigger heavier tires is not always better, especially for acceleration.
