i don't know why you're bringing up getting a 2017 corolla.
If all you want is a cheap DD . . . get a cheap DD. There's probably a
1997 Corolla out there for a couple grand that will get you 30mpg with chump change insurance that will get you to work.
Then you can save damn near your whole pay check and buy a damn house.
Get a raise, build up your credit, and get a used Z in 2 years for half what you'd pay now. Profit.
